Grain impurity analysis, answered
A visual method: it photographs a grain sample and classifies every object (sound grain, impurities, broken and defective kernels, weed seeds, disease) in about three seconds. It returns an EN 15587 (Besatz) style breakdown, with each number traceable to individual kernels.
Grain admixtures (other cereals), weed and foreign seeds, stones, husks, plant parts and debris; broken, shrivelled, sprouted, darkened and pest-damaged kernels; and harmful impurities such as ergot, sclerotia and Fusarium. Over 20 classes per crop.
Wheat, barley, oats, rapeseed and hemp today, each with its own model. Other crops can be added on request.
NIR measures chemistry: protein, moisture, oil. This measures physical composition: impurities, defects and foreign material. They answer different questions; most intake points use both.
It runs the same impurity assessment in seconds instead of about 30 minutes, and keeps an auditable image for every result. Operators use it to check every load and reserve manual grading for disputes or calibration.
Every object is classified individually, so results are traceable to the image, not estimated. In an independent blind study against five expert lab technicians, GrainODM’s grade matched at least one expert in 96.2% of samples, backed by 600+ production tests over four months.
